Clarity Rocks! 23 July 2008

On this dark New York day, I wanted to share a small success story with you. I headed off to my Restaurant Week dinner last night sans earrings and was feeling naked. As I rode the R towards the Village, I affirmed the following thought in my head: “I want cool street earrings and I want them for $5.”

I got off at 8th street and headed East towards Lafayette to find Butter. On the way, I spied a small table with assorted African jewelery attended by a smiling gentleman. I grew excited as I sniffed the trail of a good score. He had lots of lovely stuff and helped me locate the perfect pair of gems to go with my green dress. “How much?” I asked. “6 dollars,” he started to say. Then, just like that, “No, you can have them for 5.”

Like Terry and I told each other across the table, “This shit works. It really does.” And take it from me, they don’t come much better than Butter either!

Dear Universe… 22 July 2008

Filed under: god, inspiration, life, love, spirituality, woo-woo, writing — urbanpixie @ 10:24 pm

It’s been a while since I’ve posted. I’ve been busy - playing photographer, camper, scrabbler, swimmer, etc. - but it’s high time I came back home. So here I am, a mixture of sad and expectant, melancholy and hopeful. Things come into our lives, move us like mountains and then appear to erode away. Or we ask them to leave. Or they tell us to. I’ve got lessons to learn, some more slowly than others. Crafty little questions keep coming back to hear my most enthusiastic, “No, I still don’t want that.” Or that. And,”Yes, I’m sure, really sure.” What I do know is this: I worked way too hard for my life to spend it doing anything that smacks of settling, sweet as it may seem.

I go to bed tonight feeling blessed for what you have brought me & for the good I know lies ahead. I am ready to believe. I am ready to receive.

Love,

A Very Grateful Pixie

Mony, Baby! 9 July 2008

Filed under: life, new york, photography, pixie — urbanpixie @ 6:55 am

Your Pixie is pleased to report that I strolled & sold my first Urban Pic, Mony Piece:

And here I am, aglow in its presence:

(Kamau Ware, 2008)

Thanks to the organizers of the Below 220th Exhibit and the Uptown Arts Stroll for making them a smashing success. Full of gratitude, I appreciate the support of my many Earth Angels who showed up when I needed them; I couldn’t have done it without each and every gift I got. As John Randolph Price puts it so very well,

“I know there is nothing that I could truly desire that is not at this very moment standing at the door of my consciousness, ready to appear in my life and affairs. I have only to be conscious of this Truth and every need is met, every problem solved, every question answered. My consciousness with God within is all I will ever need…”

And so it is!

I’ve got to “make it work” in time for my art exhibit on Saturday so am channeling Tim Gunn tonight. Send me good photographic vibes, please, & here’s to getting better all the time.

I Am So Blessed 19 June 2008

Filed under: inspiration, life, new york, pixie, spirituality, woo-woo — urbanpixie @ 11:08 pm

Despite some early a.m. dental work, today turned out to be a big winner. Here’s why:

  1. Two Pixie-perfect pairs of summer shoes on clearance, Clarence, between the dentist’s office & mine. Oh how I heart NY!
  2. The talented, motivated & bright-shining peeps I work away the day with on W. 30th. They don’t make ‘em much better than that!
  3. The happy accidents I got when my dinner plans changed: The best chicken Tikka Masala I’ve had in ages & the company to go with it (see #2 above)
  4. The magic A train that came the second I reached the platform. You rock my world.
  5. The Jersey Boys soundtrack - today, yesterday & tomorrow. It never gets old to me!

So, dear reader, as they say at Fred Meyer, “What’s on your list today?”

My Chopra Center 17 June 2008

Thanks to my dear Boob Lady, I remember this truth tonight:

“Evolution cannot be stopped; spiritual growth is assured.
Action is always noticed by God; nothing goes unheeded.
There is no reliable guide to behavior outside your own heart and mind.
Reality changes at different stages of growth.
At some level everyone knows the highest truth.
Everyone is doing the best they can from their own level of consciousness.
Suffering is temporary, enlightenment is forever.” - Deepak Chopra

May you find it helpful too!
