I had the pleasure of seeing Philippe Petit at a screening of his film, “Man on Wire,” this week. Held in New York at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, the event egged me on. I’m preparing to leave my life here and begin again in Berlin in 11 short days. I felt as if Petit were speaking to me that night, validating my Pixie plan with his wise words. With that, I offer you the best bits:
- “Faith keeps me galloping. It’s contagious!”
- “Life should be lived at the edge of life.”
- Q: “What do you feel on the wire?” A: “Joy”
- Q: “What do you think about on the wire?” A: “I think about the seriousness of what I’m doing. I think about how strong the wire is…I am an explorer.”
- “Everyday is a work of art to Philippe.” (his ex-girlfriend)
- “To walk across the Twin Towers is supposed to be impossible. That makes it beautiful.”
- “I inspire people, I give them something to look up to.”
- “Faith to me is the art of living.”
- “My job is to walk, that’s it.”
May we all walk this way!
