Sowing the Seeds of Life

Working the day away in S. Midtown Manhattan (The Fashion/Wholesale/Cheap-Ass Crap District), I’m fairly far from any of NYC’s more glorious green-spaces. But today, in an effort to cheer the boss with some fresh air & retail therapy, I discovered a short-cut to Mother Nature. The Flower District is a mere two streets South on W. 28th between 6/7. Arriving there, our simple plant purchasing mission turned into much more of an attitude adjustment hour than anything else. True, there’s always a little contact high spending someone else’s moolah & we did score some lovely (& very, very hearty, I’m assured) new tropical but low-shade & maintenance trees for the office. & yes, I pledge to do everything in my power to keep them safe, sound, watered, loved & alive. You can quote me on that. But mostly, the boss & I noted how happy we were to be breathing the air aided by the oxygenating little lives lining the street. The wind whipped through the branches beside me, making me feel like I ought to be wielding my machete in the Amazon. & check out the cute cacti I scored too! While it probably won’t be possible every day, I’m going to make it my goal wander down this row at least three times a week for wellness sake. A girl can only handle so many handbags!

If I have a little more time, though, I shall endeavor to head to my absolute fave NYC place, where everything is made better in the shade, Bryant Park. They’ve got it all - movies, a reading library & more free events that you can shake a stick at & yes, even sticks to shake!

Have a lovely eve & breathe easy everyone!

P.S. If anyone knows of a good squirrel whisperer, Thomas could sure use one! It’s getting a little too nutty over there for his taste.
