Preaching the Reaching

by urbanpixie on 28 October 2007

I’m struck that people get stuck making do in life. Many, including little Miss Pixie over here, have big dreams we want to come true. But some may have tired of trying. They’ve hung up their gung-ho hats, accepted the status quo and resumed being “realistic” about their lives. If that’s true for you, please STOP. Reality Bites remember? Here’s a few tips for staying in the “Take your passion and make it happen” game.

  1. Spend time preening that dream you have for yourself first - kick-ass career, sexy soul mate, pimped out pad, etc.
  2. Hold a clear, crisp, far-out, fantasyland vision of this in your mind’s eye. Feels pretty good, doesn’t it?
  3. Write that shit down.
  4. Take the necessary steps to go after what you want. That resume won’t write itself!
  5. Look over your list & visit the Vision Quest often to keep yourself on the “true you” track.
  6. Ignore the naysayers because they’re out there & they’re more than happy to tell you to face the facts. I say “F*!#%&! facts.” Say no to naysayers in general. Why share your dreams with someone you know’s not gonna get it?
  7. If it smacks of settling, it is. Here’s the test: When a friend asks, “How’s your new boyfriend?” & you start your response with, “Well, he’s good but…” He’s not. Next?
  8. While moving on, remind yourself that you are on a mission to magnificent. Nobody’s going do it for you. & no one but you’s gonna get your butt back on the high-hopes horse. Giddy-up!
  9. Repeat step 5 often, daily if you have to, as there will be times when it feels like you’re spinning your wheels. Just don’t get stuck in that muck!
  10. Keep working the small steps that move you in the direction of your dreams. If you’re headed the right way, your passion’ll be burning from all that yearning!
  11. Remember the bamboo.

Wax on, wax off & keep reaching for those stars!

Prioritize your dreams? How do you persevere on one path without losing out on another? Would it be beneficial to have one priority above all others or to try to focus on your top 5. Preach dear Pixie!

Well, idahocrispy, that’s a good question. The UP is working on two big goals at the moment, each of which has several smaller components. I think the clarity is the important part here & keeping your eye on your own prize life, not the Jones’.

If you say “Prosperity” that can apply to all areas of your life (love, money, support, fun time) & be a good one to work towards overall. Looks like you’re pretty prosperous out there already, no?

I guess you’re right. I’ve already reached the prize so I’ll quit trying to better me.

I’m sure that’s not what you meant. No need to correct me.

I know that you have to figure out where you are in all your life’s sub-journeys. You can’t steer if you don’t know where you are/ where your’e going.

But, all those efforts require effort. So how does the UP prioritize where to sepnd those 24 hrs each day?

Sounds a great deal like (well, maybe a different vocabulary and style in places) a man I worked with for 23 years. You and idahocrispy might remember him. Pixiepa

Another good question, idahochrispy, as it’s not easy! This work thing takes up a lot of time.

But one thing that really helps is to book-end the day with meditation first thing in the a.m. & last thing in the p.m. I turn everything off apart from a relaxing cd in both cases, gaining real clarity in the process about the Pixie’s truest wishes.

I also take 2 classes/week to work on the big dream front & I gotta say, having no TV really helps with the time too!

& yes, there’s always room for more prosperity in anyone’s Daisy Duke’s so dream big, my friend, dream BIG!
