As John put it best, reuniting with other retreatants Sunday, Sunday, Sunday at Unity was a glorious trip back to “the tub of love.” But, to avoid sounding too much like a whack-o-kumbaya-ya chick, that’s all I’ll say on that one.The talk, however, does merit more musings. Guest speaker Paul Hasselbeck, teacher, author & funny, funny man, called his message, “Tag, You’re it!” Postulating that the best part of playing tag as a kid is being “It”, he spoke about tapping into personal power. Paul writes, in his book, “Point of Power,” about reclaiming our essence & taking control of our lives. Doing so, the rest of life falls into place much more easily. He even argued that when in our power, we could cope sans horoscopes & psychics. But I for one am not willing to go that far. This Pisces likes her a.m. inspiration!
The example that Paul used certainly struck a cord with me. He talked about how people (& Pixies) often refer to their cancer (or AIDS) diagnosis as “a blessing.” But by doing this, we (unknowingly) transfer the power to the disease & its diagnosis. Instead, Paul suggested saying, “I took my cancer diagnosis & turned it into a blessing.” God knows we’ve all seen people who went the other way on that painful path. Thankfully, I was not one of them.
I’m grateful that during my own dark days of cancer diagnosis (another lifetime ago it seems), the Universe sent me the tools I needed. But, more importantly, I’m happy I found the personal power to use them. In a way, getting cancer’s easy compared to the hard work required to rebuild a broken life.
& the rest they say, is herstory…What’s yours?

I’m sure you asked if there’s a relation to Seattle QB Matt Hasselbeck, right? Or did you phrase it around his sister-in-law Elizabeth Hasselbeck, host on The View that had it out with Rosie on her last day. (No, I don’t watch the View).
You’ll always be our favorite Hippie/Kum-ba-yah chick. Even if you try to limit our exposure to your flower power.
Did you ever look up Tim McGraw’s song? Again on subject today….
I bought his book “Point of Power”. So far it is good. Great Story! Will offer to share once done reading, to anyone interested.
I don’t reckon there is.
Aw, shucks. & yes, that country crooner made me cry!
“and I loved deeper & talked sweeter…”
It’s too hot to be crying. You need the H2O for sweating.
