Despite the logistical challenges of the Randall’s Island location, this Pixie sure had fun at Willie Nelson’s festival, Farm Aid 2007 on Sunday. Granted, my school-night sensibilities led me to leave early (I know, I know) in order to miss the mass exodus at midnight. I’ll let the professionals re-play the plethora of performances & get right down to my own observations:
- Always wear a skirt to an outdoor festival. Porta-potty lines an hour long are so not cool & time’s too precious to waste that way!
- NYC is filled with young & old peeps pushing for organic food, spiritual stuff & yes, loving the wacky-tabacky. (The middle one might be the only one that seems remotely surprising.)
- U2’s song “One” makes an excellent cover & is both a crowd & Pixie pleaser! Lying there on my blanket in the summer sun, I blissed out to lines like “we get to carry each other.”
- A young man, Matisyahu is gaining popularity as he (according to his website) “seeks to serve as a conduit for the messages of peace and unity that flow through him, to improve the world the world by sharing his music, and without letting ego or worldly desires interfere in that communication.” I, for one, was impressed with both his sound & the show of support for his meaningful message.
Being at Farm Aid, I felt an incredible shift of conscious coming. The sea of people seemed ready stop saying the world’s going to hell in a hand basket & do something about it.
Oh & I can’t forget the food. Here’s the incredible Eric enjoying just one of the many tasty treats available down on the Farm.
So I ask you, “Who doesn’t love a little Willie?”
