On this September 11th, my second one spent in NYC, I remember so clearly my feelings last year. Many hearts hung heavy in my new home with memories lived though, together as New Yorkers; six years ago, I watched the 9/11 events safely on my Seattle TV. I can’t possibly understand what it’s like to have been here. I hope only to honor those who both did & did not survive the experience.
For me, this day’s a clear reminder that life is indeed precious. We’ve got no guarantee we’ll make it to work, much less to 59 1/2. Not that I’m saying don’t save for a rainy retirement day, just that it wouldn’t hurt to harness an equal amount of energy into making each moment count now. Why not pick up some pixie dust & do what you’ve been put on the planet to do? In that spirit, allow me to suggest the following:
- If you want something, go after it TODAY.
- If you love someone, tell them TODAY.
- If you’ve hurt someone, apologize TODAY.
- If you’ve got someone to forgive, do that TODAY.
As for me, there’s one girl in this whole wide world I can’t stop thinking about TODAY, my dear Melisa. I wish her a very Happy Birthday & send her love as she sets sail into her 35th year.
She’s a beautiful blessing in my life & I can’t wait to celebrate Saturday in Seattle!
Here’s to being in this thing together - as New Yorkers, Americans, Earthlings & souls - soaring from sea to shining sea & beyond.
